Society for Empowerment Hosts Online Webinar on Involving Youth in Positive Youth Development

The program featured esteemed speakers, including Shri N.N. Pandey, Bhikkhu Pragyadeep, Professor S. Narayan, and Professor Anil Prasad, who shared their perspectives and expertise on nurturing young leaders through structured frameworks and universal principles.The webinar commenced with opening remarks by Bhikkhu Pragyadeep, who emphasized the role of youth in shaping a compassionate and equitable society, drawing inspiration from the timeless teachings of Lord Buddha. He highlighted the critical need for instilling emotional intelligence, self-awareness, and resilience in youth for fostering societal harmony.Shri N.N. Pandey highlighted the broader context of youth development in India. He discussed the Government of India’s flagship Sashaktikaran Karyakram, an umbrella initiative that includes programs such as the National Youth Corps and the National Young Leaders Programme. These initiatives aim to empower youth across rural, urban, and tribal areas, providing them with leadership opportunities, skill development, and a platform for global engagement.Professor Anil Prasad, a prominent speaker, elaborated on the RULER Framework—Recognition, Understanding, Learning, and Response—as a cornerstone for youth development. He explained how this framework encourages emotional intelligence, self-reliance, and moral accountability, empowering youth to respond constructively to life’s challenges. Pandey underscored the importance of recognizing youth voices and engaging them in policymaking and community service.Professor S. Narayan added further depth to the discussion by advocating for intergenerational collaboration and the creation of inclusive platforms that bridge the gap between youth aspirations and societal expectations. They emphasized the role of mentorship, skill development, and responsible technology use in equipping youth to lead impactful lives.

The webinar resonated with the teachings of Lord Buddha, Lord Mahavir, Guru Nanak, and Mahatma Gandhi, whose principles remain highly relevant to today’s youth development initiatives.
